how were the neighbors notified that 40 acres of woodland would be leveled and cleared to create "woodlands" (huh?)?
How many deer and other wildlife have been displaced or killed since the clearing? I have a partial talley.
When will you stop using the phrase ...in the woods? and stop touting your luxury facility as "green" - meaning how much so-called "green" engineering will have to go into the place to make up for the "brown" dent you left "in the woods"? really! I wonder if it even entered your greedy heads?
Just say what it is: another luxury facility for vapid Paris Hilton-type rich kids to maintain their grand living scale while away at university. I said champagne, NOW!
But then again, who really cares, right?

Citizen sane: We would like to first and foremost thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns with us. The blog is new for us, and we are delighted to find another way to connect with the community.

The Woodlands goes to great lengths in selecting our building sites for new communities. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on our properties in tree preservation and hardwood restoration – far more than the average developer. While most companies build and leave, our company chooses to take an environmentally conscience approach in regards to trees and forests. We are well aware this luxury comes at high monetary costs for which we take full financial responsibility. This is very unique to our industry.

There is no denying the environment is certainly affected by human development of any kind, and these changes will be in their most obvious state during the construction period.

Unfortunately, our site had previously become dumping grounds for area residents; ridden with old washing machines, stoves, refrigerators, tires and junk….not exactly a wild life preserve.

The Woodlands is leading the industry in taking on the responsibility of ensuring developments reach their highest and best use. We take an effective step towards reducing urban sprawl by developing properties (already in demand) that appeal to young professionals not ready to own a single-family home yet wanting the advantages of home ownership. The condos require the use of much less uninhabited land than individual single-family homes. With 300 units on 18 acres and 20 additional acres devoted to green space (includes hiking, biking, jogging trails etc.) a larger group of people enjoy an active lifestyle. That’s exactly why we think, it’s Better in The Woods…
